Today, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlović, signed an Agreement with the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Vojin Mitrović in Bratunac on the construction of a joint border crossing and visited the Bratoljub bridge built, his cabinet announced.
As it is said, he also signed the Agreement on the maintenance and reconstruction of the interstate bridges between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mihajlovic recalled that the Bratoljub bridge was completed in 2017 and that he expects construction works for a first-rate joint border crossing to be completed in March next year.
“That is why these jobs are the most important now. To allow peoples to connect, because regional connection is the most important condition for the development of our countries, and that is the policy of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and our government. “Mihajlović said.
He added that Serbia provided 15 million euros in the budget for the maintenance of six bridges, while Bosnia and Herzegovina will keep the other five.
According to her, the value of the projects that connect Serbia with Bosnia and Herzegovina is 1.7 billion euros.
“We are building the Sremska Raca – Kuzmin road, from there we will rebuild the road to Bjeljina. Then we will build the Ruma-Sabac-Loznica road and express road and build the Slijepcevici-Badovinci road, and together we will find ways to provide a rail connection between Belgrade and Sarajevo, “Mihajlovic said.
Mitrovic said that the Bratoljub bridge was completed in 2017, but it was waited until December 2019 to harmonize the political positions of the three nations.
“The construction of the new border crossing Bratunac will additionally connect the two countries and accelerate the traffic of goods and passengers,” Mitrovic said.
