The epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović says that, given the behavior of the population, there are still risks that we will have a constant fluctuation in the number of infected people.
– It will take time. We cannot expect that in the next period there will be a big reduction, especially if we look at what is happening on the rafts, what is happening in restaurants and cafes at night, explains Dr. Tiodorović for RTS.
He says that the expert part of the crisis staff promised to draw the attention of people returning from summer vacation to the fact that they have to think about themselves and therefore about others.
– These situations only tell us that we should pay more attention to them, to educate them more – emphasizes Tiodorović.
He points out that the behavior of all our inhabitants is not such that we can reach a figure that opens the doors of all of Europe to us.
– There is no great choice. There is no specific vaccine or cure yet. We only have three measures at our disposal that we constantly mention: mask, physical distance and disinfection, says Dr. Tiodorović.
Dr. Tiodorović notes that the schools were well prepared and that the model whereby students returned to class showed effectiveness.
– I have to praise my parents. It happens that they react in a timely manner. The three situations we now have in Nis clearly show that parents have decided not to send their children to school while someone at home is in trouble. That’s great – emphasizes Tiodorović.
He points out that primary schools are currently the safest place among the population.
When dealing with large numbers of people on city buses, Dr. Tiodorović points out that the only cure is regular disinfection and the use of protective masks.
– In terms of education and persuasion, our target group is young people, high school students and university students, says Dr. Branislav Tiodorović.
