Social workers visited her several times, but she denied abusing her, says Biserka Jakovljević, director of the City Social Work Center in Jagodina, after the death of Sara Rodjikov (22), whose lifeless body was found on Tuesday by her single husband Vladimir M. (40) from Voljavča near Jagodina.
HE SUFFERED FOR THE CHILDREN
The ATTORNEY’S OFFICE says Vladimir was prohibited from contacting and approaching Sara three times during 30 days, as a victim of violence. And two years ago, Vladimir was sentenced to six months in prison for violence against his mother Ruzica. Sara’s neighbors also say they saw Vladimir beating his mother and wife, and that Sara probably suffered for her one-and-a-half-year-old son and three-month-old daughter.
The Basic Public Ministry asked the competent court to order the custody of Vladimir M. on suspicion of having committed domestic violence. When he reported Sara’s death, the Superior Prosecutor’s Office ordered the police arrest, but when it was established that she was not killed, as was initially suspected, but that she died of drug overdose, the case went to the Basic Prosecutor’s Office. It was determined that he had minor bodily injuries, which were not life-threatening, for which Vladimir is charged with domestic violence on the suspicion that he inflicted them.
– Before Sara’s death, no criminal charges were brought against Vladimir before the Basic Prosecutor’s Office for domestic violence. They only received three reports from the Jagodina Police Administration about the breakdown of relations between extramarital spouses, two during 2017 and one last year. However, no criminal proceedings were initiated against her, because Sara claimed that she did not suffer any violence from Vladimir, the prosecution says.
The City Center for Social Work says Vladimir was also violent towards his mother Ružica, and that he probably abused her as a teenager, but that she often dropped the charges against him.
