The president of the Serbian Patriotic Alliance, Aleksandar Šapić, stated that it is logical that the new government of Serbia will be of limited duration, with the aim of overcoming the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“I am sure that no country will come out of the COVID crisis without any harm, so it is logical to form a term government to overcome this situation,” Sapic said on the “Pravi ugao” program on Radio Television of Vojvodina.

Explaining his position, Sapic said that it was not a typical government composed of all parties that passed the electoral threshold, and that it was not natural that there would be no opposition in parliament.

Šapić stressed that that was his position on this issue and that more should be asked of Aleksandar Vučić.

He stated that the goal of the new government of limited duration should be to get out of the situation caused by the pandemic with the least possible damage and to take the best possible position in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Speaking about Aleksandar Vučić’s announcement that the state will deal with organized crime, Šapić said he was surprised by the determination with which Vučić spoke about it.

He added that there were criminal clashes in the streets of Belgrade in recent months, and that Vučić’s announcement signaled a swift reaction from Serbia “to make it known that the state should not be played with.”

Sapic said that his post as mayor of New Belgrade, for which he was re-elected with the full support of the SNS, was not conditioned by cooperation with that party in the formation of a new government.

The new government of Serbia will be formed by a coalition composed of the Serbian Progressive Party, the Socialist Party of Serbia and SPAS, and will have a limited duration, because the next parliamentary elections will be held no later than April 3, 2022, announced on Tuesday the president of Serbia and the Serbian Progressive Party, Aleksandar Vucic.
