The Board of Directors of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) received two applications for the contest for the position of Director General, among which there is no application for the current acting Dragan Bujosevic, announced today the Association of Journalists of Serbia, indicating that ten remain days for applications.
As the UNS has learned, one of the candidates who submitted the application for the RTS contest did not comply with the formal conditions of the contest, because he had not been in managerial positions for ten years.
On August 19, the RTS Board of Directors annulled the competition for the Director General because the Board members did not support either the cameraman Vasko Vasović or the PGP RTS editor-in-chief Marko Milutinović to be the head of public service.
Bujosevic was named interim CEO for the second time.
Previously, during the competition, Bujosevic’s candidacy was rejected because the application was not signed. The RTS Board of Directors then requested the opinion of the Ministry of Culture and Information on whether Bujošević could be the acting director of RTS twice.
The Ministry responded that there are no obstacles for Bujosevic to act twice, if the same director general can be the head of RTS in two periods, as the UNS has learned.
Explaining why the CEO was not elected in August, RTS Board Chairman Vladimir Vuletic said board members “were not under the impression that any of the candidates were running the house properly in the future”.
However, one of the candidates, Vasko Vasović, expressed his dissatisfaction that the contest was annulled, pointing out that it was a sham and that he would not run again for the general director of RTS, because that would give legitimacy to the Board of Directors, which he overthrew. .
Who will be the head of the public service, if he will be elected and who is the right one for that position is an important question for the public, considering that last year, 55% of RTS revenue was collected from citizens.
