Namely, Zorana Mihajlović, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia and Minister of Mines and Energy, and Milorad Grčić, Acting Director of PE EPS, signed an agreement transferring the founding rights of EPS over the distribution system operator “EPS Distribution” to the government of Serbia. -a.

– Finally, clearly divided activities will increase the efficiency of both companies, which will remain state property. The state will strengthen EPS by investing in new capacities and environmental protection. The vision that should not be implemented in the next 20 years, but as soon as possible, is for EPS to be a regionally powerful company. The vision for the distribution system operator is to keep losses to a minimum, which means being at least several times lower than now. Consumers must be satisfied with the quality of the electricity, and not just the quantity and delivery, Mihajlović said.

He told the workers of “Elektroprivreda Srbije” and “EPS Distribucija” to believe first in their companies and in the Serbian Government.

– We will do everything possible so that workers can carry out their activities without impediments. There is no fear that EPS or ODS will be privatized. These companies are our gold that we will preserve and develop. There is no fear that someone will lose their job because companies need workers, because there are not enough. In the next year, I expect results because it does not take much for the ODS to be even better, and for EPS to start work on new hydroelectric power plants and new plants related to environmental protection, Mihajlović noted.

Milorad Grcic, acting director of EPS, said that the transfer of founding rights to the Government of Serbia is the end of the process that began five years ago, which involves harmonization with legal obligations and guidelines prescribed by the Government of Serbia.

– To this day, the Government of Serbia is the owner and founder of “EPS Distribucija” and “Elektroprivreda Srbije”, as well as the owner and founder of EMS. EPS will continue to modernize and invest in environmental protection and new production facilities. We will be especially committed to investing in renewable energy sources, so that we will have more and more green energy in the future. I am proud that in our time, two flue gas desulfurization plants will be built at TENT A and TENT B, Grčić said and wished ODS good luck in their future work.

Bojan Atlagić, Acting Director of “EPS Distribution”, said that ODS will obtain a license and adopt a number of other legal acts for its operation, noting that ODS will provide higher quality services to users through development.

EPS union president Milan Đorđević told EPS and ODS employees that there is no fear or apprehension because the act of handing over ownership of “EPS Distribution” to the Serbian government does not fundamentally change anything, as EPS is 100% state owned.

– In this way, an opportunity is created for further development and an even more efficient distribution of electricity and a better supply of the economy and citizens, as well as great savings in reducing thefts, network losses and maintenance of the net. We hope that the Serbian Government will continue the development of EPS and ODS, and that EPS will become the market leader in this part of Europe, said Djordjevic.

The president of the ODS Union, Branko Tomić, estimated that the ODS will justify its existence and that after this change, it will work better and more efficiently through further development, the announcement states.
