The pilots of the Serbian army, Captain Zvonko Vasiljevic (43) and Major Dejan Krsnik, were killed in the accident of the military plane “Mig 21”, which crashed yesterday morning around 9 in the morning in the vicinity of Loznica, near from the village of Brasina.
The plane was piloted by Vasiljevic, a native of the town of Donja Borina, who flew over his hometown, and fell a few minutes later, while flying over the family home. Eyewitnesses said that the plane flew over the town and that at one point it was flying very low, just above the roofs of the houses. As they said, the plane struggled, turned and finally fell, and strong smoke rose from the plane. The plane crashed into a stream, two kilometers from Vasiljevic’s house.
– Five minutes before the tragedy, Zvonko called me and told me to go out into the courtyard and fly over our house. He flew and flapped his wings at me – said Zvonko’s inconsolable mother, Mara.
A minute after the house blew up, his plane crashed two kilometers away. Witness to the fall, Zivana Ristic, mother of two young children, told “Alo!” That everything was scary and that I was very scared:
– The plane was heard flying low. In an instant, literally for a few feet, the roof of our house was lost! Something was wrong. It began to turn strangely, and the pilot was seen firing into the stream, to avoid the houses. The next moment I saw it fall on its beak and then a burst followed, and then it started to smoke and burn. I yelled to my neighbors: “Call an ambulance and fire brigade. We will all burn.” – Živana said to our newspaper.
A resident of Andja says she ran out of the house barefoot because she was so scared.
– I saw the plane spin in the air and fall into the stream – She told us.
Mara Ristic, whose house is located near the crash site, says she knows Zvonko as a good girl.
– I listened to his relatives, who told me that he had called his mother and told her that he would flap his wings when he flew over her house. I can not calm down. I took tranquilizers – He said hello!”.
Zvonko landed on the plane in his aunt’s yard, and on that occasion, his 59-year-old uncle was injured. He was admitted to the General Hospital of Loznica with numerous burns.
– The man has burns on his chest, head and arms. Other than burns, no other injuries have been identified so far. – It was said at the hospital.
– He flew and turned between two houses and fell into a stream. The three of us saw it. He ran away from home, I groaned, he called the whole village to help, to save the children, the explosion was impossible, it hit the boy. He fought not to hit the houses. My ceiling was a bit scratched – said a local woman.
Vasiljevic was considered an exceptional driver and in the team where he works for him they only have words of praise. He worked at Lađevci airport near Kraljevo, where he flew the “eagle” plane, to transfer to Batajnica as a training pilot at “moment 21”. It also took off from there yesterday morning. There is a picture of him and a picture of “Miga 21” on his Facebook profile. In the comment below the plane photo, he wrote: “55 years with us and still on the front lines!”
