Former Belgrade Criminal Police Chief Ilija Milacic was arrested on suspicion of leaking an official secret, Police Director Vladimir Rebic said.

Rebić, as a guest on TV Prva, said there was no additional information, considering that the investigation is being conducted by the Internal Control Sector, which is under the direct authority of the Minister of the Interior.

Regarding the murder of a young man that occurred last night in Kragujevac, Rebić said that the victim was previously known to the police, that is, that he was linked to drug trafficking.

“We assume that this is the motive for the murder. The police are inspecting the cameras, we are in talks and I think the murder, like the other one, will be clarified soon,” Rebić said.

Due to police information that parts of fan leader Veljko Belivuk’s criminal group were planning to perform during the Stefan Nemanja memorial unveiling, Rebić said authorities raised the level of preparations for the event to the highest level, and that elite army units participated in preventing possible actions.

“(The president (of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić) decided to appear … They probably gave up any action because of that (during the ceremony),” said the police director, adding that the institutions will only determine when the sniper confiscated Belivuk it was intended for groups.

Rebic added that the investigation will determine if all the people related to that criminal group are behind bars, he stated that in the previous months many interesting people were followed in security and that the Security Information Agency worked on that.

According to him, data on cooperation and conflict from various criminal clans was analyzed, as well as data on other countries was collected.

“We suspect that about 70 people laundered money (for Belivuk). Now it is up to the police to cut the channels and show that the money with which they operate (their companies) was pumped through the laundering of money acquired through drug trafficking. confiscate that property. You know, someone can, hypothetically, stay in prison for 30 years, and their companies continue to increase their wealth. We hope they take that property with final verdicts, “Rebić said.

When asked why he was not present at the conference announcing the arrest of fan leader Veljko Belvuk, Rebic said he was in a telephone meeting with the director of the “influential” foreign police service, with whom he was cooperating in the next joint action, we can provide details of the meeting.

“I evaluated that it was not correct to cancel the telephone meeting, and the fact that, in addition to the minister (Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar) Vulin, there were leaders of the Directorate of Criminal Police, the Service for Combating Organized Crime and the Administration of Belgrade City Police is a sufficient sign, ”Rebic said, adding that it did not matter who was at the conference, but what was announced on that occasion.

Rebic also denied watching the soccer match between Red Star and Partizan from the stadium box, alongside the recently arrested leader of the criminal group, Veljko Belivuk.

“I watched the match five or six boxes (from the main box, where Belivuk was). I affirm under full criminal responsibility that I never met Veljko Belivuk,” Rebić said.

He did not want to give details about the arrest of two members of the MUP, who were detained on suspicion that they deliberately did not find evidence during the search of the apartment of the arrested Belivuk, but said that now everything is left to prosecution and they will be prosecuted.

The daily “Politika” previously noted that these were recordings previously made by representatives of the Service for the Fight against Organized Crime.

“I fear for the safety of the family”

The police director said that due to the complaints from the media, they connect him with the alleged criminal. The “Kavac clan” fear for the safety of their wife and two children.

He rejected those allegations “that recklessly endanger his family,” that whoever has doubts about alleged contacts with crime should take them to the Prosecutor’s Office, and that he will gladly respond and prove his innocence.

He added that he does not fear for his safety because he is a protected person, but that members of his immediate family do not enjoy the same level of protection.

Rebić added that because of the whole situation, “he feels a bit like Jozef K.”, the main character in Franz Kafka’s literary work “Process”.

“Only unlike him (who didn’t even know about his accusation), I saw the accusation in a newspaper article in which, as I understand it, they accused me of supporting a (sports) club. Is that a sin? I would not say. Also a big difference is that Jozef K. was single, I take care of my family. “When someone writes that I helped the Kavač clan, they send a direct message to another clan that I am guilty of murder,” Rebić said.
