The special hospital “Ozren” in Sokobanja still does not accept patients with corona, users with tuberculosis dissatisfied with the change of purpose
Some patients of the Special Hospital for Lung Diseases “Ozren” in Sokobanja, the only hospital in Serbia that cares for tuberculosis patients, protested earlier this week against the official decision to enter the covid system, and have them discharged or ” mixed “in it. facility with patients with confirmed coronary infection.
Until yesterday, “Ozren” did not become a covid hospital, although that decision has been made twice so far, at the end of July and at the end of last week.
After the Nis Clinical Center, on November 13, as “institution that coordinates all the covid hospitals in the south and southeast of Serbia”, made the decision that the Special Hospital “Ozren”, which deals with lung diseases specific, become a covid hospital “without delay”. , some patients who are in better general condition, such as those with tuberculosis that has become non-infectious, have been discharged.
Although there was discontent about this, the problem arose when the “reorganization” of the most difficult patients began.
– Patients on the third and fourth floors, including those with multidrug-resistant and positive tuberculosis, were transferred to the first floor, which was declared a “green zone”, in order to organize the other three floors as a “red zone” where patients will be treated. the kovid. patients. They met on Sunday and Monday, protesting because “someone” decided to go home and infect their relatives there, or mix as lung patients in the same facility with patients infected with the corona, which mainly “attacks” the lungs. which is a serious and additional risk for them, said Danas sources close to the “Ozren” hospital.
They added that after the protest meeting of some patients, it was agreed that “Ozren” will start receiving covid patients only when all the capacities of the Special Hospital for Non-Specific Pulmonary Diseases “Sokobanja” are filled, which has been in the covid system for ten days. .
– Our hospital will not accept patients with kovid until further notice. But, in case of further deterioration of the epidemiological situation, it is ready to be transferred to the covid system as soon as possible, and at the request of the crisis personnel, the director of the Special Hospital “Ozren” Mihajlo Jovanović said briefly for our article.
He did not specify whose decision it was for “Ozren” not to switch to the kovid regimen yet, nor did he answer our question about whether it was influenced by the protest of some patients.
They also deprived us of the answer as to how logical and justified it is that the only hospital in Serbia that cares for tuberculosis patients becomes a covid hospital and that these and covid patients are housed in the same facility.
Before the CC of Nis and the Headquarters of Emergency Situations of Nis, he made the decision that “Ozren” would enter the kovid system. This Headquarters decided on July 23 of this year, but the decision did not materialize.
Employees say they are not against kovid hospital
– It is not a problem for us to be in the kovid system, some of us already worked as an assistant at the Nis Clinic for Lung Diseases in April. We are not running from it, in any way. But our priority attention is our patients, and some of them may be negatively affected, some health workers from Kovid hospitals or workers from “Ozren” told our newspaper.
Kovid patient attacked healthcare workers
Nis – A 64-year-old Kovid patient from Nis physically assaulted medical staff and other patients at the Nis Infectious Disease Clinic around 11 am yesterday morning.
The patient was in the intensive care unit with oxygen therapy. According to the first reports, he fell into the “psycho-organic syndrome”, got out of bed, broke the equipment, attacked the doctors and technicians with a bar and then entered other rooms of the intensive care unit.
At this clinic, they confirmed that the patient later tried to leave the clinic, but was prevented from doing so. No one was injured in the incident, and the incident was reported to the direction of the Clinic and the competent Public Ministry. ZM
