The humanitarian foundation “Be Human” announced today that the money has been raised for the treatment of little Oliver Pal Gajodi from Subotica and that we are only waiting for Monday and the official confirmation from the bank.
The Instagram page “For Oliver’s Life” also posted good news.
– This day has also come! According to our budget, we collect the amount from Zolgensma, but we will only receive an official notification from the bank on Monday. It is important to know that the excess money raised can only be used for auxiliary devices and therapies that Oliver needs after gene therapy – it was posted on the Instagram page “For the life of Oliver”.
Oliver was born on December 17, 2019 as a healthy baby.
A month later, during the first vaccination, the doctor noticed that something was wrong because Oliver was not moving his arms or legs.
He was sent to the Novi Sad hospital.
After a month of numerous examinations, the diagnosis was established. Oliver is said to suffer from a fatal neuromuscular disease, type 1 spinal muscular atrophy. It is a highly progressive disease that attacks the muscles and rapidly loses basic life functions such as walking, digesting, swallowing and breathing.
At two and a half months, Oliver received his first therapy. After that, he was very weak, and in his year and month of life he spent more time in the hospital than at home.
The only hope is the world’s most expensive drug, Zolgensma, which would not otherwise be available in Serbia. It is necessary to raise around two and a half million euros for treatments abroad, for gene therapy, medicines and medical consumables, medical devices and their maintenance, medical and orthopedic aids, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and travel and accommodation expenses.
At the end of last year, let us remind you that we managed to raise money for the treatment of Anika Matić and Minja Matić.
Congratulations, Serbia!
