The Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, said today that public transport, catering facilities and shopping malls are not the key places where the infection spreads, but parties, celebrations and birthdays, and that 36% of people with coronavirus are in Belgrade.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection, 8,000 catering establishments have been controlled in Serbia since July, 75% of which are in Belgrade, and controls were intensified last week, he told RTS.
Every night, cafes and restaurants in Belgrade are controlled by 40 communal police officers, in cooperation with the health inspection, Radojicic noted.
Communal militiamen, in cooperation with the competent inspection services, controlled 84 catering establishments in Belgrade on Wednesday night and on that occasion wrote 11 fines for those who did not adhere to and respected epidemiological measures, he said.
Speaking about the enforcement of epidemiological measures in public transport, Radojicic announced that the control of the use of masks will be even more intensive next week.
Last week a control was carried out on 171 buses and 15 fines were issued to six commercial entities and 13 natural persons in six locations, Radojicic said.
A sufficient number of people wear masks on public transport, but everyone needs to be called on to wear them. These are places of risk and it is true that special care must be taken, he said.
It is practically impossible to maintain the prescribed distance in vehicles, and that is why it is important that everyone wears masks, although the vast majority of citizens do.
The communal militia, along with health and tourist inspections, insist that passengers put on a mask, or on the subtron, to get out of the transport or receive a fine.
With a more detailed control, with a greater number of people who will be in the field, I believe that in the coming days we will increase the percentage of people with masks on public transport, Radojicic said.
He added that compared to last year, in this period, the number of buses on urban lines increased by 25 and on suburban lines by eight.
The mayor noted that according to the latest cut of the number of people suffering from the corona virus, 36 percent of them were infected in Belgrade.
It should be noted that the majority of Belgranos adhere to the measure, especially older fellow citizens, Radojicic added.
He believes that the greatest risk of spreading the infection are meetings at celebrations, weddings and birthdays, and Belgrade did not approve such meetings and will not do so in the next period.
He recalled that in late spring, about 30 children were treated by kovid at the “Dragiša Mišović” hospital, while currently no child receives treatment.
