The mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, said this morning that he does not know exactly how much the Stefan Nemanja monument costs, but that the citizens will find out in time, as the Government promised, and that there will be “no big problems”.
“The essence and the emphasis is on the fact that such a magnificent monument will be in that place.” We do not know how much the monument to Prince Mihailo cost, we do not know how much it cost at the moment and we do not think how much the monument to Pobednik cost, we cannot estimate how much Mestrovic’s work is worth, “Radojicic told Serbian radio and television.
As Radojicic said, “of course we must take care of finances”, and it is also important to “have a stable budget and behave in a rational way.
“I have no doubt that there will be a huge disproportion between the importance of that part and the value of how much was paid,” Radojicic said.
He pointed out that it was time for Belgrade and Serbia to get that monument, because that means thinking about your ancestors and respecting their identity.
The unveiling of the monument near the old main train station was announced for January 27 this year and officials have not yet announced what its price is, but according to announcements, it won’t be available until 2023.
