Radmili M. was tried for aggravated murder accused of killing her newborn in April last year.
– Radmila and her family took the baby to the doctor in April 2019 without any sign of life. They said the mother breastfed the child and put him in a stroller to sleep, but he no longer woke up. Doctors could only state the baby’s death, which, as they claimed at the time, occurred as a result of gastric fluid suffocation, says a source familiar with the case.
According to our interlocutor, the mother of the unfortunate baby had mental health problems and went to the psychiatrist regularly, and in the end she confessed to the crime.
– Six months after the girl’s death, she admitted to her psychiatrist that she strangled her baby. The specialist immediately reported the case to the competent institutions that began the investigation – explains our interlocutor.
According to the source of the Kurir newspaper, the mother told the psychiatrist that she covered the baby’s nose and mouth with her hands and kept him that way until he stopped breathing …

The Šabac Superior Prosecutor’s Office ordered an expert opinion that determined that the baby did not die as a result of asphyxia with gastric fluid, as originally thought, but died a violent death.
– The mother was arrested and placed in preventive custody on suspicion of aggravated homicide. Considering that she killed the minor before the start of the application of the amended Penal Code, she was threatened with a sentence of up to 40 years – adds the interlocutor.

On the occasion of the death of Radmila M., the Šabac High Court also announced that the deceased prisoner had been in custody since December 31 last year.
– Due to the psychological problems that the accused had, as stated by the team of psychiatrists, she was transferred from the Šabac Penitentiary to the Belgrade Special Penitentiary Hospital and from there to the Belgrade District Prison.
Last year, after the child’s death, Radmila and her husband let journalists into their home and she tearfully claimed that the baby had died in sleep.
– I made him milk, he ate only 20 grams, and when he burped, I put him in the cart. I didn’t turn around for a minute, and he was already asleep. After that, I couldn’t wake him up anymore, and I noticed that he wasn’t breathing, my mother said through tears. She then added that she gave birth to a baby in the seventh month and that he was small in weight:
– He was in Belgrade hospital for two months. Doctors managed to save him, but they said he had arrhythmias, heart murmurs and problems with the thyroid gland, but he progressed well and was happy – he said.
She added that she had lost a baby during delivery a year earlier.
“We were surprised to learn that he was faking it.”
Petlovača residents say they were shocked when police arrived a few months later and arrested Radmila. They say they remember how much she cried and suffered for her son.
– When we found out that he lied, that he pretended to suffer, we were surprised. We think little Christian died because he was sick. He moved to the town with his husband and children, they lived in a dilapidated house, locals said.
