The initiative “Let’s defend Kosutnjak” carried out an action “Resolutely against pollutants” in front of the factory for the production of auto parts “Mei Ta” in Baric due to unpleasant odors, industrial smoke and because the factory does not have a water treatment plant residuals.
How it is transmitted Radio Free Europe, about 20 activists gathered in front of the entrance of the factory circle, carrying placards “Stop air pollution”, “What are you poisoning us with?” and “Resolutely Against Pollutants”.
The representative of the Initiative, Snezana Nedeljković, said that in the production process, used oils that are dangerous and harmful are separated and dumped directly into the Sava with all other waste.
“At 300 or 400 meters from that place, there is a water intake, from which water is supplied to the citizens of Baric and the surrounding places,” Nedeljkovic warned.
When asked if the activists had evidence that the factory dumped hazardous substances into the river, Nedeljković replied that the only evidence is “a photograph taken from the air by a drone, showing a pipe that discharges water directly into the Sava.” .
“That is the only evidence. You cannot enter ‘Mei Tu’ and do any analysis, because it is a factory in which our state has no powers. But, a Sava water test can be done near where the wastewater is discharged. “Nedeljkovic said.
Barič resident Aleksandar Krstić told reporters that locals buy bottled water because the water from the fountain tastes strange and the air quality is poor.
