Some locals held a protest in Shido demanding that all illegal immigrants be taken off the streets, that their numbers in that municipality be reduced, as well as that the Army be returned urgently.

“We were very safe when the Army protected those reception centers,” Predrag Danilovic, a Shida youth representative, told RTS.

He also said that one of the demands was for “the non-governmental organization ‘Sin nombre kichen’ to move urgently to the territories of the municipality and the Republic.”

1,900 migrants are housed in three migrant centers in the municipality with some 30,000 inhabitants. There are 250 of them in Shido.

“Until now, very few times we have had police complaints against our users, the majority of the perpetrators of these incidents are migrants who are in transit and who rarely show up at the centers or refuse to enter the system organized by the state” Vladimir Sulovic, head of RTS, told RTS. shifts at the Sid Station reception center.

Shida residents sent requests for the protest rally and walk to the Commissariat for Refugees and the local government.

We remind you that Lawrence of the NGO “No name kitchen” recently told H1 that the situation with immigrants in Shido is “quite desperate”. “Those people need to be fed every day and that’s what we do. We help as much as we can,” he said.

Lawrence is from Great Britain and is currently part of a three-member team that prepares and distributes meals for more than 100 people every day. “Mostly these are numbers between 80 and 120 people,” he said, adding that the citizens of Shida mainly support them.

They know about the organized protests and are well acquainted, he says, with the position of the municipal president, Zoran Semenović.

“Sometimes it happens when a new population comes to a smaller community and we understand it. But on the other hand, the needs are great here. We have to be there because I don’t see who else could help them. When it comes to the mayor, he us It gives a lot of problems. He often shoots us during distribution or even here in front of the house, “said Lawrence.

Although he did not respond to the invitation to speak on H1, the first man of the municipality announced his position on Shida’s official website. He supports the protests and opposes the non-governmental organization “No name kitchen”, stating that there is a foreign element behind that wants to destabilize the legal order in Serbia. He also denounces the Police Station and the Ministry of the Interior, because, as he claims, they are not helping them to solve the problem.

H1 television approached the Interior Ministry with a question about how many crimes the migrants committed in Šid and what is their percentage in the total number, but the answer did not come. Due to police actions towards No Name kitchen activists, whose seven members were fired during their stay in Serbia, non-governmental organizations have filed complaints, and will complain, they also announced the mayor’s announcement.
