The number of new infected in Serbia has been above 4,000 for some time, and even above 5,000 on a daily basis.
According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Serbia is now in a dark gray zone with 500 to 1,000 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a 14-day period.
The only area worse than this is the black area, where the number of new infections exceeds 1,000 in a period of two weeks and per 100,000 inhabitants.
How close are we to the black zone?
– The number of infected grows slowly and will decrease slowly. If we are below 4,600 infected today, then there is an indication that we will be on the edge of the black zone, we may not go in and have a chance to get out. If in the next few days there will be more than 4,600 on average, then we will be in the black zone, more precisely a little more than 1,000 new infected per 100,000 inhabitants in a period of 14 days – explains Prof de Kurir. Petar Kocovic.
Information technology professor Petar Kočović, who with his team, with the help of models and mathematical formulas, monitors the movement of the corona pandemic around the world, points out that even if we enter the black zone, it will last a maximum of 12 days.
He adds that “when growth is slower, then decline is slow and we are at the very edge of the zone.”
– We have been in decline for two days, but let’s wait today and tomorrow, because it is the weekend. If the trend continues, then we are in a downward trend – said the professor.
Holidays and new growth?
Our citizens living abroad traditionally return home during the holidays, and what worries everyone is whether this will have an impact on the number of new infections.
– There are so many violations of the measures that holidays will not have a special impact on the number of people infected. The measures are certainly not respected, so the question is how many infections the holidays will bring. We are very infected and the impact of the holidays will be less because of that, says Professor Kočović for Kurir.
He adds that the epidemic is spreading throughout Europe and that the decline is notable in Russia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Albania, Northern Ireland and Slovakia, while in all other countries the number of new infections is growing daily.
Let us remind you that 14,395 citizens in Serbia were tested for the corona virus yesterday, 4,497 of whom were recently infected.
37 patients died and there are currently 254 patients on ventilators in Serbian hospitals.
