Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said tonight that soldiers’ salaries will increase by 10 percent next year, in addition to the five percent increase that the entire public sector will receive.

“The president of Serbia approved, in addition to the salary increase of five percent for the entire public sector, we will have an additional increase of ten percent for members of the Army, mainly for soldiers, a little less for non-commissioned officers and then for the We want the people in charge to be the highest paid, “Stefanovic told RTS after today’s meeting with the President and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army, Aleksandar Vucic, and the College of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army.

At that meeting the equipping of the Serbian Army for 2021 was discussed, because, as the Minister pointed out, there is a kind of tension in the region.

“If you look at the whole region, you will see that all the countries in the region are investing more in the military than before. People should be aware that only a stable and strong Serbia, which we defend, can be a guarantee of security in their territory. and we want to invest in people ”, emphasized Stefanović.

Therefore, as he said, the state wants to invest in equipping the army and use national institutes and national intelligence and dedicated industrial factories.

“A seriously equipped army should be a guarantor of stability and our state should be militarily neutral as we are until now,” said the defense minister.

He recalled that the army acquired a part of the air defense system in the previous period and what is needed in the future is being considered.

In this context, he announced that the acquisitions of the domestic industry: “Lazar”, “Mioš” and “Mali Miloš” would continue, as well as the modernization of the air force system, such as the “cube” system, revision of 14 “Eagles” …

On the occasion of the upcoming vaccination against kovid 19, Stefanović says it was agreed with Vučić that healthcare workers would receive the vaccines first.

“We will talk about including the security system in that. The president and the government are seriously considering how to get vaccinated as soon as possible. I am one of the advocates of vaccination and I will receive the same vaccine as the soldiers, not before,” Stefanovic said.
