If we strictly follow the protection measures against the coronavirus, theoretically we could be left without the third wave, but in our situation, with respect to the measures, it is possible to avoid a strong wave such as that of June and July, says epidemiologist Pregrag Kon. He points out that three cases of coronavirus have so far been registered in schools in Belgrade. It also highlights that the news from the southern hemisphere of the Earth encourages that the crossing of the corona and the seasonal flu has been avoided.
On TV N1’s “New Day” program, Dr. Kon said that the third wave of the crown could be avoided only if we behave like the Chinese who, with absolute respect for protection measures, have not had a single box of the crown for four months and 24 days, but in our case. it is possible to avoid one wave like the other, during the summer, but only with measures.
“The goal is not to allow the health care system to become overloaded, as happened during June and July,” said Dr. Kon.
The Serbian epidemiologist and crisis staff member for the fight against coronavirus, commenting on the data that the number of patients in Serbia is currently decreasing, says:
“This situation of ours has stabilized at a low level of the virus, but it is still present and therefore an uncertain situation, the essence is that the virus is still present and active at a low level, and being present it can be transmitted – and we are doing everything possible to avoid it. “
However, it indicates that there has been an increase in acute respiratory diseases.

It is noteworthy that the increase in acute respiratory infections did not occur in school age, but grew in parallel at all ages, but that the age of the working population dominated.
“The assumption is that it is possible to transfer in work environments, as well as in all other places where the measures are not respected.”

However, he adds that the difference is already noticeable in Serbia, since in the warmer months of the summer we have on average between 5,000 and 6,000 patients, and now there are between 2,000 and 3,000.
He emphasizes that the seasonal flu vaccination is not only his, but also a recommendation from the WHO.
“We do not know if there are serious clinical forms if there was a joint infection, but we have favorable indications from the southern hemisphere that it did not happen there, but that does not mean that we should not protect ourselves. It applies to the same categories as always, but I would like to emphasize the serious obligation of healthcare workers, especially those who will work in kovid hospitals and those who work with seriously ill people, “said Kon.
Regarding the situation of schools in Serbia, he said that only eight working days have passed since the beginning of the school year, that relatively little time has passed, but that “we see that the system is working.”
“At least in Belgrade, there were reports of suspicious and positive cases, but these are individual cases that have been responded to, for now it is under very strict control. He stressed that it is clear that there are cases of misuse of protection in high school students, that a lot of work is expected with high school students, but that he is convinced that after working with them, “you can get loyal collaborators in the fight against the infection”.
