According to media reports, Ђ. Z. was the son of Branko Z. (35), murdered 19 years ago. This murder occurred on Vladimira Gaćinovića Street, when Branko Z was shot by three attackers. They allegedly came to the antique shop with the intention of extorting Branko’s father, Miroslav, into paying for a scam.
The third tragedy also occurred on Wednesday when a 20-year-old girl jumped from the roof of the building at 12 Knez Danilova Street in Belgrade. He fell on a parked car and was showing signs of life. Although she was rushed to the Emergency Center, she later died from her injuries at that health facility.
The motives for these three suicides are unknown and the police are investigating all cases.
Experts say that adolescence is a particularly sensitive period of life and is characterized by a tendency to depressive states, various behavioral disorders, but also self-destruction.
Any form of self-destruction in young people, most of the time, is not directed against life, but represents an attempt to defend themselves from unbearable internal states or feelings. That is why the timely presentation of help to professionals in the mental health field is of key importance for the prevention of suicide among young people, psychiatrists believe.
Experts emphasize that suicide in a group of young people is usually impulsive and, therefore, difficult to predict.
Warning signs that parents, the school environment, and peers should pay attention to are isolation, silence, tension, and various risky behaviors.
