Politika Online – Higher Electricity Bills Due to Higher Green Energy Rate

By decision of the Government of Serbia on December 18, instead of the previous 0.093 dinars per kilowatt hour, which were paid through electricity bills for a special rate to incentivize privileged producers of electricity from renewable sources , citizens will pay 0.437 dinars or 4.6 times for this fee. more than before.

It’s a fee that around 3.5 million households have been paying each month for the past five years to those who build wind farms and other sources of clean energy and thereby subsidize the production of green kilowatts. If this burden had not been transferred to the citizens’ budget by the new government decision, the Serbian Electric Power Industry, which buys this green energy, would have to cover the difference to the producers, which would be a great expense for them. .

This tariff will cost citizens more than the announced increase in electricity in February of 3.4 percent, which will increase the electricity bill by an average of about 150 dinars.

If someone has paid 93 dinars so far for this green energy tariff for every 1,000 kilowatts consumed, they will pay 437 dinars in the future.

The decision, as recorded on the Government’s website, takes effect on the eighth day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
