Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov declared today that the completion of the construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline and its commissioning is an exceptional success for the two friendly and brother states.
In a telephone conversation, Vučić and Borisov especially emphasized that this was a significant feat, because the works were successfully completed under the conditions of the corona virus pandemic.
Prime Minister Borisov told President Vučić important news for Serbia and its citizens: that he has just completed the first stretch of the highway from Sofia to the border with Serbia.
The entire stretch from Dragoman to Sofia will be built by the end of 2021, which means that Serbia will thus become one of the most important countries on the transit route between Western Europe and Istanbul.
Vučić and Borisov discussed further enhancement of economic cooperation, as well as various regional issues.
One such issue is the construction of a gas interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria, which the two countries would start to build immediately and which, following the construction of the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece, will contribute to even greater energy stability and security in the region. region.
President Vučić congratulated the citizens of Bulgaria on the New Year and wished them to continue on the path of progress.
