On 6 January they celebrated Christmas Day in the company of Serbs at Bosanski Petrovac, two of whom wore hats with rosettes. Although not on duty, Dragan Lipić and Nedjo Mrdja are charged with serious breach of official duty.

The whole case was strongly condemned by the Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, Milan Petković.

It is inadmissible for the MUP of the Una-Sana canton to initiate a disciplinary process against two policemen just for being Serbs, said the vice president of the NARS, reported Radio Televisión de RS.

“They are accused of seriously damaging the reputation of the police service because they were together with two people who wore hats and rosettes on their heads, that is, the insignia of the Republic of Serbia,” Petković said.

Una-Sana Cato’s Interior Ministry procedure is also condemned by Serbian returnees, who have been celebrating Christmas Day for decades.

The Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina believes that the MUP procedure of the Una-Sana canton is a clear message for the Serbian returnees.

Djordje Radanovic, chairman of the FBiH Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs, says it is a message to all Serbs from the USC police that they should go away and not be able to express their religious feelings.
