In recent days a controversy has started in the public – who is responsible for the reconstruction of the plateau in front of the Faculty of Philosophy, which has been deteriorating for years? Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić says that the faculty, facing the plateau, should deal with this problem. On the other hand, the faculty says that the plateau is not their property and that Vesić’s accusations, as they say, represent pressure on the Faculty of Philosophy.
The teachers also see this as a direct threat to all the criticism they have leveled at the government for the systematic collapse of Belgrade.
Cracks, holes, broken parts of the sidewalk – this is one of the busiest plateaus in the center of Belgrade. Although it is located just off Knez Mihailova Street and opposite the Faculty of Philosophy, it has been waiting for years for its reconstruction.
“I know that people think that I am in charge of everything in Belgrade, I have nothing against that, but the Faculty of Philosophy is responsible for this plateau, that plateau belongs to the Faculty of Philosophy, the city of Belgrade does not maintain that plateau, but that Faculty of Philosophy knows how to criticize this government and its professors are protesting a little, a little, so fix the plateau, “Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić recently told” Studio B “.
Although the deputy mayor now assures that the altiplano is not under the jurisdiction of the city, only two years ago he spoke differently. Then he announced that within the urban projects of the city there is a reconstruction of the Student Square, which should include, as he said, rehabilitation works in the highlands. .
And the professors of the Faculty of Philosophy assure that the government of the city must take care of that subject. They say that shifting responsibility to their backyard puts pressure on them because of the criticism they have leveled at the city government.
“We understand Vesić’s performance as an attack on the Faculty of Philosophy, because he knows very well that the area is not owned by the Faculty, as he incorrectly informed the public. Vesić also knows that it is a protected area with an important archaeological site of baths. Romans “For years, the faculty has been sending letters to the city administration and the Stari municipality graduate in an attempt to solve this problem, but there was no provision to do anything,” the Initiative said.
Nothing has been done, because the City has no obligation to organize a space that is not a public area, and every dinar that would be invested from the city treasury in rehabilitation would be the subject of a criminal or misdemeanor report for part of the state auditor, says Goran Vesić for H1.
In the message, the deputy mayor also sent us a document from the cadastre, which he says is the best proof that the plateau is the exclusive property of the Faculty of Philosophy.
However, the former president of the city assembly, Zoran Alimpić, says that the cadastre, however, does not relieve the city government of the responsibility for the rehabilitation of the plateau.
“The parcels in the cadastre often do not follow what is happening on the ground, if we look at it that way then the question arises whether the city can invest in many other non-urban parcels, for example if it can within Belgrade on the water, the promenade or some parts between the buildings must be built by the city or must be done by an investor, says Alimpić, former president of the City Assembly.
Interlocutor H1 also points out that the plateau in front of the Faculty of Philosophy has always been owned by the city, because it is a public area that is used by thousands of people every day.
“This is the first time in history that someone wants to punish a plateau, punish a public space because protesters gather there and citizens who say something against the government gather, it is complete nonsense, this is a public space. the city, a public space, the city has built, the city has maintained until now, the city still maintains this: the city is a flagstone pole, the greenery of the city plants flowers here, the city has erected a monument to Njegos and it’s written on it, “says Alimpić.
By the way, the Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić, instead of the workers, sent an extraordinary inspection to the plateau. Their statement states that the surface has been determined to be in a devastated state and that they will therefore send a decision to the leadership of the Faculty of Philosophy, forcing the management to return the plateau to its original condition.
