Plagiarist Danica Popović expelled from the subject International Economics

Faculty of Economics professor Danica Popović, who stole the translation from Professor Stojan Babić’s late colleague, was removed from the list of professors for the International Economics subject, Kurir has learned. It was Popović who plagiarized the textbook for that subject, and that was definitely confirmed by the University of Belgrade on Friday.

In addition to justice being served, this is also a victory for Kurir, who in a series of texts with Aleksandar Jaksic, who submitted a request to establish plagiarism, fully revealed the truth about Popovic. The list of professors for the fourth semester of the 2020/21 academic year shows that the information about Popović’s sanction is correct, and the dean of the Faculty of Economics, Branislav Boričić, confirmed the same for Kurir.

– The teaching-scientific council has decided unanimously on the proposal of the home department and on the proposal of the teaching commission. Professor Popović also attended the session. After this, he will no longer teach in that subject, and he will teach in other subjects, says Dean Boričić.

Aleksandar Jaksic says he welcomes the decision of the Teaching-Scientific Council of the Faculty of Economics.

– By sanctioning dishonorable people from its ranks, the Faculty of Economics has shown that it is correctly ranked among the top three faculties of the University of Belgrade and that in the darkness in which the entire university operates, the Faculty of Economics is a rare if not the only one, lighthouse. Although I knew that my appeal would mean the immediate dismissal of Danica Popović, I decided not to file an appeal. His dismissal means nothing to me, and I think it is much more useful to both students and teachers at the Faculty of Economics that Danica Popović continues to work at the faculty to have an example of how not to behave.

Kurir also tried to contact Professor Popović, but she did not reply, but sent a message, apparently ignoring the facts: “I expect an apology from Kurir for all the lies you told about me.”

She appropriated the full fee

Danica will return 720,000 dinars to Professor Babić’s family

Not only did he plagiarize his work, but Popović took the full fee of 1,440,000 dinars for it. Instead, half, 720,000 dinars, should have belonged to the family of the late Professor Stojan Babic. After the plagiarism was officially established, one of the possible sanctions for Popović is to return the money later. We discussed this possibility with the dean of the Faculty of Economics, Branislav Boričić.

– The list of translators and editors will be changed in the list of authors of the book and Professor Stojan Babić will be entered. I will open up the issue of the fee and the possibility of paying it to the family later with the attorneys, so I will know more after those consultations.

All the heroes did not humiliate anyone

They defended her, now they are speechless

Those who were the loudest in defending the plagiarist Danica Popović, and even took behind-the-scenes actions to defend her, and what Kurir wrote, are now dumbfounded. We invited the professor of the Faculty of Economics Milojko Arsić, otherwise a member of the DS, as well as prof. Ivan Vujacic, member of the DS Civic-Democratic Club, but they did not like to talk about this issue. Academician Dušan Teodorović did not want to speak for Kurir either. Vujacic said he “received no information about this case”:

– I have nothing to comment on. I do not know anything about that.

Teodorović refused to speak even before hearing the question: – Don’t even ask me questions, my position is that there is no communication between Kurir and me.
