Serbian army investigators working to clarify the “Mig 21” plane crash near Mali Zvornik will read the device data to record the flight parameters, but the context of the crash will only be known when the log is supplemented by other circumstances: the nature of the crew’s task, the flight plan, radio communication, eyewitness statements.
An expert examination of the wreck is currently underway, which should provide an answer to the question whether the plane crash and the deaths of pilots Dejan Krsnik and Zvonko Vasiljevic were caused by a technical or human factor.
The device for recording flight parameters (SARPP), as experts in aviation technology explain, is far from modern “black boxes” in terms of its capabilities, writes “Novosti”. On its tape, according to old Soviet technology, only the basic parameters of the operation of the aircraft are recorded: the number of revolutions of the engine, activation of certain assemblies, used weapons, additional combustion …
The two military commissions will “read” the wreckage of the plane in the coming days, which should give a more precise answer to the question about the reason for the accident. The fact that Krsnik and Vasiljevic did not catapult from the plane will also be under scrutiny by investigators. So far, there are several versions of how this outcome occurred, the most likely of which is that due to the low altitude, high speed and the desire to try to lift a plane that was out of control, they did not even manage to save themselves.
The conclusions on all these circumstances, as announced by the Ministry of Defense, will be sent to the Superior Prosecutor of Sabac, which will assess whether there is scope for new actions and possible actions. The case will be accompanied by the findings of the doctors who performed the autopsy on the bodies of the deceased pilots, which was completed in Belgrade on Monday.
In anticipation of the results of the investigation, friends and comrades in arms of the killed Serbian army pilots bid farewell to the tragically killed airmen. Zoran Jevtic, president of the municipality of Mali Zvornik, in whose territory “Mig 21” finished its last flight, declared a Day of Mourning for Tuesday, among the dead officers.
– There was a great tragedy and the loss of two wonderful pilots, officers and people, who left a deep mark on our aviation, but also on life. Their families are not alone in their grief – said Jevtic.
Podrinje residents especially mourn the pilot Zvonko Vasiljevic, born in Donja Borina, between Gucevo and Drina. Fate caused him to die not far from the home of his aunt, Milica Tansković, in the town of Brasina, which is only separated from his birthplace by forests.
– Where he took his first steps in life, after a brilliant aviator and military career, he lost his life – say the locals, who emphasize that Zvonko was very nice, modest and dedicated from the first days. – He loved his homeland, his family and the village. He was very attached to Serbia, which he served with all his heart until his last breath.
Tanaskovic is on the mend
The owner of the parcel where the military aircraft Vitomir Tanaskovic crashed in the town of Brasina is successfully recovering from the burns he suffered in the plane explosion – “Novosti” has learned from the Department of Surgery of the General Hospital of Loznica . After receiving a shock in the shock room, Vitomir was transferred to the room, where he will continue to recover. The wounded Tanaskovic, by fate, is the husband of the dead pilot’s aunt Zvonko Vasiljevic.
