Less than a month has passed since the government adopted a plan to support citizens and pensioners, and many of the older people are already “rubbing their hands”, eagerly awaiting new financial aid. For many, the total payment will be equal to half of the monthly pension, and it is not uncommon for the elderly to have more than half of their income.

Pensioners, a total of 1.7 million of them in Serbia, will receive a total of 110 euros in the next nine months, for a total of about 12,800 dinars. Payments will be made in three “rounds” in May – 30 euros, then in September – 50 euros and in November – another 30 euros.

The first and last 30 euros will be given to the rest of the citizens. In September, they will also receive a supplement of 50 euros, to which only pensioners are entitled.

With regard to pensioners, they will not have to register, because there is already a well-established system with the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund in regards to payments to the elderly.

Beneficiaries of social assistance will also not have to apply for help and there are about 150,000 of them. and there is data for them and the money will be paid to them without registration.

All adult citizens are also entitled to financial aid, but for 60 euros each. They will receive the money in two installments, the first will go in May 2021 and the second in November.

Registration begins in April, and whoever requests the first 30 euros will automatically receive another 30 euros. It is not necessary to apply twice, and the process will be the same as last year, when the state gave 100 euros each.

How to apply

Then, the application will be sent electronically, through the website of the Tax Administration, where citizens will click on the field “Send request” and enter their data there: JMBG, identification number and the bank where they have an account.

If citizens do not yet have an open account in a bank, they will choose the bank through which they want their money to be paid and thus automatically apply for assistance. That way, a one-time dedicated account will be opened for them, at no cost. After withdrawing the money, the dedicated account will be closed.

They must also check the box confirming consent to the processing of personal data.

Registration will also be possible by phone, at a number that will be officially announced in time. A call center will open at the end of April, Minister Siniša Mali announced.
