Patriarch Irinej on the elections in Montenegro

The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), Patriarch Irinej, said that “the will of the people triumphed over the arbitrariness of the individual, as well as that the elections in Montenegro were held in a peaceful and democratic environment.”

Patriarch Irinej is said to have had a cordial conversation with “the leaders of the coalition ‘For the future of Montenegro’ Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic”, which he received on 10 September in Patijarsija.

Mandic and Knezevic thanked the patriarch “for his great commitment to the unity of the Serbian Orthodox Church, highlighting especially the role of the patriarch in the fight for the unity of the Serbian people, wherever they live.”
