“In recent years, we have witnessed climate change, which is slowly changing from the continent and becoming more similar to the sub-Mediterranean. Winters in Belgrade have turned mild without extremely low temperatures.

Therefore, the possibility has been opened for “Zelenilo-Belgrade” to plant palm trees for the first time in the public green zone, which until now have not been characteristic of this region of ours. However, going green with exotics is not something that does not exist in Belgrade.

In private gardens, adult specimens of palms, bananas, olive trees, etc. have been successfully cultivated. during years. The type of palm that was planted today in Kalemegdan very well, without damage, withstands low temperatures of down to -15 degrees Celsius ”, it is stated in the explanation of JKP Zelenilo Beograd.
