“We are seriously thinking about wearing a mask outdoors and especially in pedestrian areas. The other thing is to think about measures for discos and cafes,” explained the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Mirsad Djerlek, at a press conference.

Up to 942 health workers are positive, 49 of them are hospitalized, he said.

New measures coming soon

He explained, speaking of the measures, that we should have implemented the measures in practice earlier.

– Today the new law came into force and is one of a series of measures on how we are going to control the situation – he pointed out, adding that the main objective of this law is to control the implementation of the measures adopted.

The secretary of state said that 95% of citizens respect the measures.

– At this time it has been debated and analyzed. We must find a balance between the protection of the population and the economy, and we discuss the way and the model to respect the measures – he said.

Young man in a respirator for half an hour.

– The rule that kovid only affects elderly people is no longer valid, we have had cases where young people end up as a severe case on a respirator in half an hour. Unfortunately, in the end, they lose their lives – said Djerlek.

He explained that faster measures were taken before, but now everyone has more experience.

– Right now, we want to balance the treatment of covid and non-covid patients. Taking measures does not hinder anything, simply looking for the best solution – he said.

Djerlak said there are illegal parties and nightclubs.

“Officials who reject the vaccine will also be sanctioned”

Speaking about mandatory vaccination and sanctioning citizens who reject it, the Secretary of State said:

– The law is already known. The minister received greater powers. It can issue decrees or orders about entering our country, what to do, but also mandatory immunizations. I would recommend that all citizens get vaccinated. We will select the vaccine after the seal of our Medicines Agency. I’m sure they will approve the safe. All vaccines will be free – he said.

He noted that the vaccination of citizens will come after health workers, the army and the police, for whom vaccination will be mandatory.

If vaccination is mandatory, Djerlek stressed that it will also apply to state officials.

– The law is the same for everyone, whether or not it performs a state function. We are first and foremost citizens of this country. All those for whom immunization is mandatory will be sanctioned, and will not be vaccinated – he concluded.

We remind you that in the last 24 hours in Serbia, 14,116 people were tested for the corona virus, 3,499 of them tested positive, while sadly, 17 people died.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and the “Trampoline” Institute, there are 158 patients with respirators in hospitals across the country.

The conference on mendia comes a day after crisis staff met to discuss new measures that should be taken.

According to epidemiologist Predrag Kon, they proposed various measures to the Government for its consideration.

– It is essential that all the measures that have been adopted so far are respected. Another thing we suggest is that masks are mandatory indoors, but also outdoors, especially in pedestrian areas. We have suggested that the facilities where the infection occurs, which are mainly nightclubs, not work after 6 pm Mainly referring to nightclubs. It is a fixed term of two weeks. A term measure would mean observing the effect of its effect after two weeks, Kon said today.
