We all remember her for the songs that carried the rhythm of the south. No celebration could be imagined without their songs.

He began playing music in the early 1960s and his career lasted with the same endeavor until the early 2000s. His popularity was due to the role of Kostana in the play of the same name by Rasa Plaovic, which was based on the work of Borislav Stankovic. . The play was in the repertoire of the Belgrade National Theater for a full 25 years, and Usnija performed Kostana more than 150 times.

Josi Broz Tito himself, the Yugoslav president, was enchanted by the beauty of Usnija Redzepova. She met him when she was invited to entertain the hunters on his property in Karadjordjevo. After the performance, Tito’s assistant approached her and told her that the president wanted to meet her.

Besides him, he delighted the Mexican ambassador who told him that they would like to have one of his dishes. She wowed with her looks and her song. Even Fidel Castro, the Cuban president, was delighted with the beauty of this black woman when he entertained the guests at the dinner that Tito prepared for that occasion in Brijuni.

Then, in 1973, he met the love of his life, Slavoljub Šešić Šeleta. They were married in 1978 in Belgrade.

Slavoljub and Usnija were inseparable, so it is not surprising that her illness, and the death that befell her in 2013, hit her hard and was the cause of her illness progressing. His condition worsened with lung cancer, so chemotherapy began. She passed away, forgotten by all, on October 1, 2015, in great torment. Even today, five years after his departure, no one on the stage has had the honor of organizing a concert in memory of one of the greatest and most authentic stars of national music in our region.
