Only a vaccine can save us

Immunology professor Vera Pravica at the Belgrade University School of Medicine claims that we know a lot about the virus, but also that we don’t know much yet.

– We do not know how our immune system reacts to a virus that behaves like this, that does not behave in a predictable way. I am concerned that the disease is occurring, the vaccine is what saves it. When you have an infection and any form of the disease, you cannot even predict the complete reaction of the immune system and the various complications that can occur after the mild form has severe and long forms. That is a problem and unpredictable, said prof. Vera Pravica in a guest appearance on RTS.

He states that the reaction to the virus is terribly individual and that it is not known how the organism will behave in a few days.

Indicates that the virus is a classic SARS virus that causes severe respiratory syndrome.

– It can cause autoimmune phenomena – our immune system, instead of fighting only viruses, begins to target its own structures. This is not the only virus of this type, but the fact is that there are several symptoms in which it can attack various tissues and organs, which is not a consequence of the virus, but of our immune system, says the professor of immunology.

He notes that it is not yet clear what suddenly breaks the situation.

When it comes to the creation of antibodies after vaccination, prof. Vera Pravica states that research has shown that if you are exposed to the virus and do not get sick, the immune response is adequate.

– We must not only work with antibodies, it is not only what protects us, the memory cells that are created are also important – they remembered the first contact with the virus and will be able to react faster, better and more efficiently in the next contact, he explained prof. Faith Right.
