Members of the Belgrade Ministry of the Interior shed light on the desecration of the Eternal Fire Monument on Roosevelt Street and arrested two suspects.

AR (1998) and a seventeen-year-old young man are accused of spilling cement on a memorial and putting a bucket with the message “Libertadores, no, never” on it. It is suspected that in the previous period they also damaged the Kalemegdan monuments by painting them with graffiti with messages of hatred and intolerance.

Due to the existence of reasons to suspect that he committed the crime of incitement to the crime of destruction and damage to the property of others, AR was arrested and ordered his detention for up to 48 hours and will be taken to the First Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade.

A seventeen-year-old will be charged with the crimes of destroying and damaging the property of others and inciting national, racial and religious hatred and intolerance.

“Working for the holidays, members of the Ministry of the Interior fired and arrested those who desecrated the Monument to the Eternal Flame in Belgrade. The image of our capital shone again. I am defeated by the truth that the perpetrators are so young and we must all wonder what to do. The fascist evil no longer poisons a single young soul, “said Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
