The plane with a shipment of one million doses of the Chinese Sinofarm vaccine was received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at the Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade.
In addition to Aleksandar Vučić, the plane was also received by Minister Zlatibor Lončar, the head of BIA, Bratilsav Gašić, and the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Chen Bo. The plane landed around 9.50.
The vaccines were delivered in 10 containers and 125,000 vaccines fit in one container, Vucic said at the airport.
He emphasized that Serbia is currently the country with the highest number of different types of coronavirus vaccines in Europe, and that by June or July it will have a total of five or six different solutions for the fight against Kovid-19.
The Chinese “Sinofarm” is the third vaccine to be used in Serbia, after “Pfizer” and the Russian “Sputnik VE”.
He said at the reception of the plane with vaccines, at the airport “Nikola Tesla” in Belgrade, that the court of the Agency for Medicines and Health Products is expected to decide on Sinofarm’s solution, but that he is convinced that those vaccines are excellent. and that he will ask to speed up the vaccination process starting next week.
“The fact that Serbia has (various types of vaccines) is a test of the capacity of the national political leadership.” We have excellent relations with China, we do not hide that, we do not hide ourselves even during meetings in Washington, “said Vučić.
He added that he was grateful for the cooperation with China and that this cooperation would be further deepened, as all the vaccines arrived through bilateral negotiations.
“We did not receive any vaccines through the Kovaks system, we were among the first to pay (an advance) to participate in that program … Who can criticize me and how they want.” I’d rather have a president who didn’t get the shots. We are proud of our friendship with China, and we worked on (arrival of vaccines) with Ambassador Chen Bo for at least 100 days, “said Vučić.
He added that all Chinese workers in Serbia will be vaccinated with the Sinofarm solution, which he claims will contribute to the works of the Ironworks in Serbia, the Foundry in Bor, the Linglong factory in Zrenjanin and the construction of roads.
When asked if he will get the Chinese vaccine, he said he will be vaccinated in seven or eight days.
“For me it was important not to be among the first, not to say that he was saved. We have always made exceptions, we have up to 200 people who died from the crown who are under the age of 50. It is important that we take care of our older adults, ”he said.
Vučić added that negotiations are under way on the arrival of another 463,000 vaccines from the AstraZeneca company, in addition to being concerned about new strains of the corona virus that are emerging.
He announced that he will probably receive the Chinese vaccine in the coming days to show that it is safe for the population.
Journalists on the priority list for vaccination
Vučić stated that he sent an initiative to the Serbian Government to put journalists on the priority list, and hopes that it will be accepted so that journalists can be vaccinated against Kovid-19 from Monday Tuesday.
“Journalists work in the field and they need to protect themselves, but also the people they talk to,” Vucic said today.
He said that 19,500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine would arrive on Monday, and that 250,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine would arrive on Tuesday, “so we will have more than 1,430,000 doses by Wednesday in Serbia.”
The delivery of the Chinese vaccine, he said, is “terribly important” because lives are being saved, but it will also be important for the Serbian economy, because we need to return to a “normal way of life” as soon as possible.
Chen Bo: I hope the Chinese vaccine helps to suppress the epidemic in Serbia
Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo said today that she hopes the Chinese vaccine will help suppress the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia.
“I believe that the arrival of the Chinese vaccine is part of our joint fight against the virus, and I hope that the arrival of the Chinese vaccine will contribute to the suppression of the epidemic in Serbia,” he said during the reception of the plane with vaccines at the airport. Nikola Tesla from Belgrade.
He said China had promised that its vaccine would be a “global public good” and that the Sinofarm vaccine would reach Serbia only 16 days after its approval in the country of origin.
