Belgrade Arena temporary hospital medical coordinator Predrag Bogdanović says the Arena, which currently has 485 patients, treats entire families with bilateral pneumonia and that the epidemiological situation is very serious.

Tomorrow will mark a month since the Belgrade Arena became a covid hospital again, and Bogdanović says that a total of 1,023 patients passed through there in 29 days and that no one expected such a situation.

Bogdanovic said they had a sleepless night because there were 80 admissions to the hospital. In these almost a month, a total of 540 patients were discharged, 438 for additional home treatment, and 102 patients were transferred to higher-ranking hospitals.

Most patients receive oxygen therapy and only about twenty vacancies remain. Bogdanovic points out that there are between 30 and 50 discharges a day and that they try to send all the patients home when they stabilize, because there is a lot of pressure on the hospitals.

There are 280 oxygen seats in the Arena and they are all full.

Bogdanović points out that there are whole families in the Arena who have bilateral pneumonia, adding that many patients’ condition worsens within an hour, and places in other higher-ranking hospitals are getting smaller.

The youngest patient in the Arena is 19 years old, the oldest 88, and Bogdanović warns that the situation is very serious and asks citizens to respect the measures.
