The decision to change the name of this street will be considered by the members of the local parliament because the Commission for Cultural and Historical Monuments and the naming of streets and squares adopted the request of the Vucelj family and the Serbian army to name Murska street, where lived, after Naser.
The Ministry of State Administration and Local Autonomy also gave the green light to change the name of the street, despite the negative opinion of the Bosniak National Council (BNV) and the Council of Inter-Ethnic Relations, which stated that they were “not legally binding” adds RTS.
In explaining the negative opinion, the Council stated that, taking into account that the Government of Serbia started to update the address register, the city of Novi Pazar should submit a proposal for a decision on the name of all the streets in the city , which would solve all individual cases.
Naser Vucelj was assassinated on April 19, 1999, in the Maja Glava area, during the battle for the Kosara watchtower, during the NATO aggression.
He was a member of the 125th Motorized Brigade. I was 21 years old.
