KIKINDA – Lj.R. (59) from Novi Miloševo, driver of a passenger car of the brand “Juice 45”, died in a serious traffic accident that occurred around 7.45 am on the outskirts of Kikinda, near the Vašarište stadium.
Instead of stopping at the traffic intersection of Miloš Veliki and Stevan Sremec streets, the driver from the “south” continued:
– “Jugo” was moving from the direction of Elektrodistribucija towards the city center. Instead of stopping at an intersection and obeying the “stop” sign, the driver kept going. There was a direct collision with an “oil” truck. Of the injuries sustained, LR died on the spot. He was alone in the vehicle, Kikinda police told us.
Kikinda residents who were on the street at the time confirmed that the driver of the truck braked and tried to dodge the juice. Unfortunately, it failed to avoid the collision. While the investigation continued, carried out by members of the Kikinda police and the Basic Public Ministry, the wife and son of Novi Milosevo’s victim arrived at the scene. The body of the injured driver was sent for an autopsy to the Novi Sad Forensic Medicine Center.
One of the eyewitnesses to the tragedy told us that the dead driver wanted to turn left on Stevan Sremec Street. Kikinda’s Denis Radu, who lives near the scene of the accident, was reluctant to remember what happened next:
– I went with my mother to raise social assistance. Suddenly, a terrible explosion exploded. The “south” driver turned left, but was pushed by a large “oil” truck, which had the right of way. Before that, the trucker braked, but could not avoid the “south”. We get closer and experience the impact of the scene. There was blood everywhere, he told Rada.
