“The formal reason for blocking the job is the breach of technical and construction regulations, under which the investor received a use permit. The company Nepi, as an investor, accuses tenants of delaying and blocking the work of Promenade “due to the inability to collect documentation on time,” the Popular Party announcement states.

Borislav Novakovic, vice chairman of the People’s Party and chairman of the Novi Sad City Board, asked the city authorities, led by Mayor Milos Vucevic, to answer two questions.

“First, the city authorities must clearly and unequivocally inform the citizens of Novi Sad why the Promenade shopping center has not received a use permit until today. Second, in regulated companies, the state is ranks as a corrective factor between foreign investors and domestic companies. “During the epidemic and the state of emergency, worldwide, the rental of commercial premises has been drastically reduced or not charged at all due to the impossibility of doing business, “said Novakovic.

According to him, the opposite is happening in Novi Sad.

“Tenants of the retail space at the Promenade Mall are entering the second month without the ability to work, but with the obligation to pay the rent in full!” It is not about 1,500 wages, but about 1,500 families and the fate of employees, who may lose their jobs tomorrow. That is why they are not to blame, but the state, which gives everything to foreign investors and treats our national workers and companies as cheap labor, “said Novakovic.

He called on the city authorities to do their job and actively participate in solving this problem, supporting the rights of tenants and workers.
