Due to the coronavirus epidemic, there will be no New Year’s Eve organized in Serbia this year! Cafes, restaurants, and other catering facilities will be open until 6 p.m. on December 31 and January 1, while stores and malls will be open until 8 p.m.

This is the decision that, as we learn, was taken unanimously yesterday by the crisis headquarters for the repression of the coronavirus, and a session of the Government of Serbia is scheduled for today, in which these measures should be adopted.

Caution

The current measures, except for those two days, will be in effect until January 11, which means that everything will work until 8 p.m. on December 29 and 30, as well as from January 2 to 11. Crisis staff members and experts previously warned that an organized New Year’s Eve, despite the fact that we have been recording fewer recently infected people for several days, would lead to a new wave in the middle of next month.

Epidemiologist Dr. Predrag Kon said that the medical side of the crisis headquarters is against any New Year’s Eve organization because that can only make the situation worse.

– Especially now that our hospitals are full. The curve is dropping a bit now, but it is far from good. Those of the crisis headquarters must be clear and say that we are against any kind of welcome – said Dr. Kon a few days ago for TV Prva. Epidemiologist Dr. Branislav Tiodorović also said that the new easing of the measures is very risky.

– Everyone is aware that making the measures more flexible would lead to new peaks and a new wave on January 10 or 20, and that alone would not be good for the economy. We remain in favor of tough measures, Dr. Tiodorović noted at the crisis headquarters post-session conference last Friday.

That there is no place for easing measures, believes prof. Dr. Radmilo Jankovic, director of the KC Nis Anesthesia Clinic.

Severe illness

– I do not think that the seat of the crisis will bring any measure that includes the organization of New Year’s Eve, because it is contrary to common sense and everything that health workers say – Dr. Jankovic said yesterday for TV Pink and added that the result of the group welcomes. The New Year saw a huge increase in the number of infected on January 7, 8 and 9:

– It is still important which message we send on the occasion of the organization of the New Year, because Christmas is approaching later. It is problematic to encourage the organization of New Years Eve with any vague messages, especially the younger ones, who generally do not have a sufficient idea of how serious and severe the kovid 19 is, said Dr. Janković and recalled that there are currently 9,700 patients infected with the corona virus in Serbian hospitals.

When will it work

  • December 31st – catering facilities until
  • 18, shops and malls until 8 pm
  • January 1 – catering until 6:00 p.m., shops and shopping centers until 8:00 p.m.
  • January 2 – catering, shops and shopping centers until 8 pm

Section The number of infected people is decreasing

In the past 24 hours, 11,190 citizens were tested for coronavirus in Serbia, of which 2,559 tested positive for the virus. Unfortunately, 43 people died. There are 288 patients on ventilators in hospitals across Serbia.

Vaccination in nursing homes

It is not a flea vaccine so it does not work!

In just a few days, some 700 nursing home users were vaccinated with the coronavirus vaccine in Serbia, including the protégés of the social protection institution “Dom Jakovljević” in Belgrade.

– It wasn’t painful. I don’t feel any change. I received it to prolong my life and protect myself from the crown. I miss the visits so much and can’t wait for everything to get back to normal, Nikola Blanusa (72), a retired colonel, told Kurir, who has been in this institution for 15 months.

His roommate, farmer Lazar Drca (86), who has been in the house for five months, did not even consider whether to receive the vaccine.

– I feel good. Everything went well and I did not expect anything more. The vaccine was not bought in a flea market, so it does not work – he says and adds that his stay at home is like in a hotel, but for the crown it feels like in prison:

– I would be much happier if I could hug my daughters and sons and sometimes go with my brother. RK

Goran Vesić

The city supports the crisis headquarters proposal

Goran Vesić, deputy mayor of Belgrade, said the city would support the proposal of the medical part of the crisis headquarters not to host a New Year’s Eve at the restoration facilities.

– 40,000 people work in the catering industry, we have made sure that their facilities work until 8 in the afternoon, so it is not a big problem that they do not work for New Year’s Eve – Vesić said and announced that “it will be a long time” until Let the nightclubs begin in Belgrade work.
