The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Zdravko Krivokapić, declared today that the Government had withdrawn Podgorica’s consent to cede land to the Orthodox Church of Montenegro (CPC) for the construction of a temple in that city. On the other hand, they called from the Montenegrin capital, saying they did not receive that decision.

Krivokapic said the decision was such because the criteria for handing over the land were unclear.

“No one has the right to squander state property in any way. Clear principles and criteria must be established when it is done and under what conditions. The government has made many decisions in the transition period, including this one, which hands over the land to the capital. What should happen here, there are also certain assumptions, but I don’t think it has anything to do with our relationship with any entity, that is the government’s position, that in the future we want what we have in common, with clear criteria and principles. , we transfer to local self-government or other entities, ”said Krivokapić.

From the capital, they said that in the session of the Podgorica Municipal Assembly, the councilors, with 33 votes in favor, approved the Decision on the transfer of property rights to the Orthodox Church of Montenegro on construction land in the field of DUP “Nova Varos 2” in Podgorica, reports “Vijesti”.

“Subsequent inspection of the official records of the Assembly Service, it was determined that said decision was not delivered to the Assembly of the Capital City or to the Mayor’s Office at the end of the working day,” the statement read.

Today, the Assembly of the Capital City, by the votes of the ruling majority of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Liberal Party (LP), Social Democrats (SD) and URA Civic Movement councilors Zoran Mikic and Milena Vukovic Sekulovic, adopted a decision on the allocation of land to the Montenegrin Orthodox Church. .
