NO JUSTIFICATION FOR DELAY: Leskovac City Main Square Contractor Threatens to Terminate Contract

The Lazarevac company “Bauwesen”, after the initial upgrade, has greatly slowed down the works on this currently most important project, which Leskovac is financing with its own funds, ie a loan of up to 223 million dinars. Nikolic noted that local self-government has already provided everything that needed to be done, from necessary documentation to finances.

– We did everything that depended on us on time. Now it is up to the contractor to finish what was agreed in the contract. We warned him on several occasions about the slow progress of the work, and then the local self-government followed suit. After that, the situation changed for the better, but we are still not satisfied with the intensity of the work – said Nikolić.

At the moment curbs are being installed at the location in the center of the city, the electrical installation and the water supply network are being laid, and work is also being done on the future stage. The EP “Urbanism and Construction” assures that it is not yet too late to make up for lost time, so they are not currently thinking of advancing the agreed deadline.

The works in the square began in mid-November of last year and the contractor had a term of one year for this work. It was justified before the authorities with the bad weather and the coronavirus epidemic, but they point out that not even those circumstances can justify the long delay in relation to the plan.

NEW PARK ROADS

In the park “Devet Jugovića”, the renovation of the existing and new asphalting of dirt roads, in a total length of more than 900 meters, is nearing completion, including the installation of curbs made of concrete cubes. The value of the works is around three million dinars.
