Pension growth could be six percent, which would be the highest growth in recent years, President Aleksandar Vučić announced as a guest on RTS tonight.

According to him, that means that older citizens who had a pension of 30,000 dinars in 2012, will have an income of 40,000 dinars.

Those who had low pensions of 20,000 dinars in 2012 will now have 27,499, representing an increase of 37.5 percent.

He added that we must not forget that pensioners, as well as all adult citizens, meanwhile, received 100 euros, in addition to a one-time assistance.

When asked about the Fiscal Council’s criticism of the pension increase, Vučić said that he likes to hear the objections of that body, because they always find sufficient grounds to criticize the government on the savings side, and not political criticism.

Vučić announced the possibility of raising the minimum wage by 2,000 dinars.

“The minimum was 15,600 dinars in 2012. If we get another 2,000, and I hope we do, it is not a small amount, then it is twice the increase in the last eight years,” Vucic said.

The amount of the minimum wage today is around 30,000 dinars.

Vučić stated that it is certainly not 100 percent in real money, but it is around 65 percent, which, he notes, shows how much better Serbia is today and how much the situation in the country has changed.

He added that the amount by which the minimum will be increased will be covered through the untaxed portion of the income.

“I ask employers to accept it and to understand that the state must fight for workers,” Vucic said.
