The new Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, was in the field for the first time today and controlled the works on large projects.

He visited the construction site of the 30.9 km stretch of the “Milos Veliki” highway from Preljina to Pozega, where he received a confirmation from the contractor that the stretch would be completed by the end of 2021.

“This is my first activity as line minister. The policy of the President of the Republic has really achieved many successes in the field of infrastructure, but no successful project is as visible as this” Milos Veliki “road, Momirovic told Tanjug after a meeting with representatives of the Chinese company CCCC. and a tour of the Laz tunnel works, which will be one of the largest tunnels in Serbia, almost three kilometers long.

He says that for decades, people went through the old road risking their lives, because there was no road and that he personally had been there almost every day before and was willing to bet that the road would never go through there.

“If someone had told me about ten years ago that this highway would exist and that we would be here, I would say that it is impossible, I would bet it will not happen. President Vučić got involved and today we are in the final phase of this section.” said the Minister of Construction.

He expressed his satisfaction with the dynamics of the works on the Preljina – Požega section, where the works of the Laz and Munjino Brdo tunnels are currently being carried out, and the works of the route and the bridges have begun.

He points out that the contractor showed seriousness and quality, for which he thanked the Chinese company, as well as the investor Putevi Srbije.

Momirovic spoke with representatives of CCCC about current project issues, such as the expropriation of land, the issuance of construction permits, but also the respect of the measures against the spread of kovid 19.

He confirmed that the entire stretch from Preljina to Požega should be completed by the end of 2021 and noted that it will be especially important that the stretch from Preljina to Pakovraća is operational, which will significantly alleviate traffic in Čačak, as they all go to Crna Gori and BiH will no longer have to go through the city.

“I am convinced that what was agreed today and the promise made to President Vučić will be respected,” the minister said.

He also called on contractors, as well as everyone else, to respect measures against the spread of the coronavirus, noting that the virus threatens not only our lives, but also the economy, and threatens to roll back and nullify everything achieved until now.

“We must not allow that,” Minister Momirović said.

By the way, the excavation of the Laz Tunnel began on February 21 of this year, and so far 286 meters have been carried out on the left pipe and 341 meters on the right. The excavation of the Munjino brdo tunnel, which will also be one of the largest tunnels, began on May 25 this year, and so far 141 meters have been completed on the left pipe and 48 meters on the right.

Between 200 and 300 workers participate in the works of these two tunnels every day. Furthermore, the first works are already being carried out on the route and the bridges, as well as on the Trbušani tunnel. President Vučić previously announced that after the completion of the road section from Preljina to Požega, citizens of Užice to Belgrade will travel for approximately one hour and 45 minutes. The Laz Tunnel through Jelica Mountain will be the longest tunnel on that route and one of the longest in Serbia at almost three kilometers. In addition, the 2,800-meter Munjino brdo tunnel is under construction near Lucani.

The Preljina – Požega section is 30.9 kilometers long on the Corridor 11 route, towards the border with Montenegro. Almost a third of the 30.93 kilometer route on the future Preljina to Požega highway will consist of bridges and tunnels.

The contractor for this section, which is a continuation of the construction project for the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway with a total length of 258 kilometers, is the Chinese company China Communications Construction Company.

In addition to these two large tunnels, the Trbušani tunnel of about 300 meters in length, 35 bridges with a total length of 5,196 meters, four overpasses with a total length of 592 meters, then almost two million cubic meters of embankment, will be built the construction of a complete traffic circuit Pakovraća. around Čačak, while there will be three traffic loops on the entire route.

The execution period of the works is 36 months and the value of the works is 450 million euros. The Preljina – Požega road is divided into three smaller sections. From Preljina to Prijevor along the Čemernica river and a small part along the West Morava, in a length of up to 8.27 kilometers. Then, from Prijevor to Lucani, 15.51 kilometers must be covered and 20 bridges must be built, which will be more than three kilometers long.

The third sub-section, from Lucani to Pozega, will extend for seven kilometers and will build three bridges, a 2,040-meter-long tunnel, a loop in Lucani and a bridge over the Bjelica river.

The road from Preljina to Požega is of great importance for connecting Serbia and the region, because it is a continuation of Corridor 11 towards the border with Montenegro, but it is also part of the future Belgrade – Sarajevo highway, as Požega still has about 60 kilometers to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. .

The Preljina – Požega section will connect Čačak, Lučane and Požega and two districts – Moravica and Zlatibor and is important not only for the rapid development of that part of Serbia, but also for regional connections.

Near Čačak, corridor 11 and corridor 10 will be connected by the Moravian corridor. The construction of the section of corridor 11 from Požega to Boljar on the border with Montenegro, with a length of 107 kilometers, is also planned.
