The black premonitions came true: in the last 24 hours, Serbia crossed the border of 2,000 new infected within 24 hours after 2,412 new cases were registered, while Belgrade “went through a thousand” with up to 1,106 new cases or 46 percent of all positive findings.
With 167 new cases, Novi Sad remains in second place, followed by Valjevo and Kragujevac with 66 and 64 new infected, respectively.
However, of particular concern is the fact that we got a new corona hotspot in Serbia, in Kladovo, a city in the east of the country of only 10,000 inhabitants (the municipality has twice as many), where up to 59 new infected people were registered in the last 24 hours.
The same number of new infected was registered in Nis, one less in Kraljevo, Sabac had 36 people positive for coronavirus, Arandjelovac 30, while other cities had less than 20.
What is especially concerning is the fact that, as explained by Dr. Predrag Kon, a member of the Crisis Staff for the fight against kovid-19, there are probably up to ten times more patients than the registered cases, but most of them they are asymptomatic.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said today that she is not thinking of closing schools and that such a move would be the worst possible decision at the moment. However, it is not ruled out that the fall holidays for primary school children will last a few days.
