Before the funeral, actor Stefan Radonjić gave an emotional speech:
– Dear family, today we say goodbye to our father, friend, brother, great singer, great man – Radonjić began with a trembling voice, quoting the verse “My pain, I cannot hide you”, from the famous “No one regrets like me”.
– All your city, all your Dorcol feels like this today. You remembered the poverty, but also the great temptations to which your turbulent life led you. Despite all the misfortunes, you managed to fight for your piece of bread, but also for the piece of heaven in which you shine like the brightest star. You have experienced worldly moments that few people can experience.
You became a great singer with a great career, but you never forgot your Dorcol and your friends. You could not do without us, who knew the geography of your soul better, nor us without you. You transmitted pure emotion with song and dance, there is no one who has not loved you. You turned tears into fireworks of joy, your songs were like a prayer, an infusion for the suffering souls. You overcame suffering with songs, you healed us with kindness and humanity. You believed in God, you celebrated Good Friday. As merciful as God was to you, so cruel were you to yourself. Everyone steps in front of their heart as they know and how they can. You guys did, until the last day, you didn’t cut the pace. You didn’t look away, you were wide.
