“It’s hard for us too,” Dr. Lazic told Pink.

Although the number of people infected with coronavirus has decreased, health facilities are on the brink of resistance. Another kovid hospital in Kruševac will open tomorrow, which will contribute to the relief, and the anesthesiologist tells Pink about the situation in Batajnica. Dr. Igor Lazić.

The number of admissions is higher than the number of discharges, and up to 9,500 patients are being treated for coronavirus in hospitals across Serbia.

Lazić tells Pink that 78 patients are currently in critical condition in Batajnica, and doctors see them 24 hours a day.

– The system is overloaded and more than 95% of the capacity is full in the intensive care unit – Lazić tells us.

He notes that there are young patients on respirators in the red zone and that severe forms of the disease also do not overlook this category of the population.

Dr. Lazić gave the example of his friend from college.

– Our comrade in arms, my colleague and friend from the faculty who is 83 years old, is one of those patients. He is being treated at KBC Dragiša Mišović and anesthesiologists are fighting for his life. He is on mechanical ventilation, he was intubated in a very difficult condition – says Dr. Lazić, emphasizing that it is very difficult for doctors.

He says that doctors are tired, capacities are overloaded, and there is no better resource than the one we hear every day: protect yourself and others by respecting the measures.
