SILENCE IN THE KRSNIK FAMILY

The accident of the military “MiG 21” was registered in the VR and PVO Operations Center just a moment after the accident, and helicopters of the Search and Rescue Service of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior went to the scene of the accident. Military helicopters also landed in Brasin in search of pilots.

EXPERIENCED FLIGHTS FROM BATAJNICA
The dead pilots were experienced and trained aviators, for whom the “Mig-21” aircraft was well known.
Major Krsnik served as Commander of the 4th Aviation Department of the 101st Combat Aviation Squadron, which is based at the “Colonel Milenko Pavlović” airport in Batajnica. He has been in professional military service since July 30, 1994. He was married and the father of one child.
Pilot Zvonko Vasiljevic was the deputy commander for intelligence and reconnaissance affairs for the 101st Fighter and Aviation Squadron, and has worn a military uniform since September 29, 2001. He was married and the father of two children.

The “Mig 21” aircraft that crashed not far from Mali Zvornik was the last active aircraft of this type in the Serbian army, and was used mainly to maintain pilot training. It was purchased in December 1986 and in 2016 it underwent a complete overhaul. It is a two-seater with registration number 16185. This aircraft, otherwise the smallest “twenty units” in our army, after review and inspection, received approval for use until 2026. Two years ago, it was briefly on the ground, In early May, he began flying duties again.
This is the eleventh Serbian army plane crash since 2006, the seventh of which was fatal. Eleven planes were lost in the accidents, killing 13 members of the military and three civilians, and injuring seven crew members.
