The mother of former Special Operations Unit (JSO) member Branko Bercek (43), who was sentenced to a total of 40 years in prison for the murder of Ivan Stambolic and the murder of Vuk Draskovic in Budva, says her son he has been in prison for 17 and a half years since 2007. he is in “Zabela” in Požarevac. She exclusively reveals that DOS politicians once offered parts to her son if he accepted blame for these crimes and promised him freedom and another identity.
– They offered to take the blame for both acts, but he did not want to. Many tried to come to terms with him, but he said, “I will turn 40 if necessary, but I will not accuse anyone innocent!” Even a DOS politician arrived unannounced to their cell in “Zabela” and they were locked up for almost an hour. Branko was shocked, he didn’t know what she wanted from him. I guess that man had a blemish and Branko wanted to take care of it. During “Saber” in 2003, they tied him to a chair, showed a video of a gray “Audi” sowing death in Belgrade and said, “If you don’t accept the blame for killing Stambolic, we will announce that you are the driver! ” In 2003, prosecutors offered him a deal for Stambolic and Budva, to be a protected witness in exchange for freedom and another identity. He didn’t want to and that’s why they accused him – Berček’s mother says “Hello!” And he adds that there was also obstruction.
– There was pressure on the judges who knelt. Zoran Zivkovic’s government threatened to fall seven times if they were not convicted. Only Judge Milena Inić Drecun, who was the chair of the panel, refused to vote, not because she believed my son is not guilty, but because there was no evidence. There are many cavities around where Ivan Stambolic’s bones were found. We ask for the testimony of Ljubiša Buha Čumet because he said that Stambolić was killed in Avala, while the bones were found in Fruška gora. Associate witness Nenad Šare, alias Škene, was not there, because the man who was brought there said he was afraid for the children, and Škene was not there! Before that, the JSO raised money so that Škenet’s wife could go for artificial insemination. From what I learned, his brother was at the scene. That’s why Škenet’s brother didn’t want to take off the ghost – says Dragica, who lives in Loznica.
Bercek’s mother points out that her son did not participate in any crime.
– If someone wanted to kill Vuk Drašković, they would kill him from a distance of two meters! My son was in Loznica when Stambolic disappeared, he was watching TV with my brother. On August 25, Branko bought his sister a tracksuit, which he wanted to give her the next day, August 26, for her birthday. We asked for a new trial, but it was rejected – says Dragica for “Alo!” And he points out that he does not know why they are not going to renew the process and prove who the real perpetrator is.

I addressed everyone. We hired a famous doctor to do an expert examination of Stambolic’s body, to see if he was killed in Frushka Gora and where the primary and secondary grave is. We also headed to Strasbourg, but to no avail! We are determined to seek justice and not give up – says Dragica at the end.
Dragica says Branko is actively involved in sports in prison.
– Okay, it feels extra, he trains because he has no pangs of conscience. He runs a lot, sometimes he runs 20 kilometers. He didn’t want his thieving roommates. He has the tidiest room in the Seventh Ward, he’s a real cleaner. He was fluent in the English language. He receives a visit from his ex-wife, whom he divorced in 2011, but they maintain a correct relationship. She has a 13-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son with her, and they visit him frequently, Dragica says.
Has an IQ of 147
According to his mother, Branko is very intelligent.
– He has an IQ of 147. He is sociable and eloquent. He served in the army in the anti-terrorist unit and immediately went to the JSO. It hit Kosovo three times during the war, far and wide. I was in Košare. The then Police Minister Dušan, on his merits and as one of the best in the JSO, awarded him a gold medal in 2002, and after three months put him in prison! – adds Branko Berček’s mother.
