Neighbors of Zoran M. (59), whose body was found in the garbage-covered apartment, say that the unfortunate man was calm, but that he could not take care of himself. They claim that his case was reported to the authorities many times, but that no one reacted.
Zoran’s body was found in his apartment on Ulica 29. novembra, in the center of Vranje, after neighbors reported that they had felt an unbearable stench in the building for several days, but also that they had not seen their neighbor for some time several days.
– We saw him on the street all the time, but no one has seen him in the last ten days. The stench began to feel terribly, the whole building smelled – said one of the neighbors.
Teams of firefighters, police, communal militias came to the scene, but also workers from the Komrad Communal Public Company, who were cleaning up debris in an attempt to reach Zoran’s body.
– When the police arrived, the garbage was piling up to the door. He couldn’t get in at all. That was terrible. Neighbors have reported their case several times in recent years, but no one has reacted – said one of the first neighbors of the deceased.
How Zoran passed away is still unknown, and the circumstances of his death must be determined by investigation.
Has been collecting trash for years
By the way, according to neighbors, Zoran M. has been dumping trash and waste in her apartment for years. It is believed that it fed on the remains it found in nearby containers. According to the neighbor, it happened that there was garbage all over the building.
– Often litter was left on the stairs. The garbage in his apartment could even be seen from the street as much as it was. He lived in a 35 square meter apartment that was crammed with everything and everyone. No one visited him, although he did not receive anyone – added the neighbor.
According to photos previously recorded by Zoran M.’s neighbors, he entered her apartment by lifting the door and crawling through a pile of garbage.
He couldn’t take care of himself, but he was calm.
While his mother was alive, she took care of him and they lived well, but after her death he could not take care of himself.
– His mother was always clean and tidy, but he just couldn’t take care of himself. However, he never touched anyone, he was very calm, he received the pension that his father left him and he lived on that – the neighbors say.
Neighbors often tried to advise her not to do that, but Zoran didn’t listen to them.
– We had a big problem with the garbage that he constantly brought to his apartment, he left half on the stairs. He often threw feces out the window, the stench was constantly felt – said the neighbor, adding that due to the stench and feces of the deceased neighbor, he could not live normally in his apartment for years.
