The director of the Public Enterprise “Srbijagas” and the official of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Dusan Bajatovic, found themselves again in the center of public interest after being removed from the recent meeting called by Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Mines and Energy.

The official reason for his expulsion from the meeting, with the assistance of the Serbian Government security, was that he appeared at that meeting without his associates, contrary to what Minister Mihajlović demanded.

However, well-informed people claim that intolerance between the two has been around for years because Minister Mihajlović, otherwise a member of the Serbian Progressive Party, is allegedly close to the American energy sector, while it is no secret that the socialist Bajatović he is a henchman from Moscow.

One reason he is rated is the fact that he is one of the few government officials who is fluent in Russian.

He is considered to have very strong support from Moscow and is therefore “untouchable” in the position of the first man of “Srbijagas”.

This is not the first misunderstanding between Zorana Mihajlović and Dušan Bajatović.

At the beginning of 2013 and at that time as Minister of Energy, Zorana Mihajlović formed an anti-corruption team with the aim of investigating the alleged embezzlement in “Srbijagas”, which was still run by Dušan Bajatović.

Consequently, a new incident can legitimately be considered an “opening of old conflicts”.

Dušan Bajatović was born on November 29, 1967 in Ravno Selo near Vrbas.

He attended elementary school in his hometown.

He graduated from the Superior School of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Economics of Subotica.

He has a degree in economics and an electronic engineer. He was appointed CEO of “Srbijagas” in 2008.

The following year, he signed a cooperation agreement in Sochi for the South Stream project with Alexei Miller, chairman of the Gazprom board of directors.

He signed an agreement with then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Miller on the establishment of a joint venture for the underground storage of Banatski Dvor gas and a memorandum on the South Stream pipeline.

He is considered the only one of the highest paid civil servants in Serbia.

His total monthly salary from all positions in February 2016 was an impressive 2,304,496 dinars.

He is one of the founders of “Most” television and the general manager of the Vojvodina Football Club in Novi Sad.
