Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić said today that the implementation of epidemiological measures in Belgrade will be monitored by between 400 and 500 authorized persons.
Vesić told TV Prva that the number of amendments to the Law on Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases has increased significantly and that it will contribute to a more efficient implementation of the measures.
He also recalled that according to the new law, in addition to the sanitary inspectors, of whom, according to him, there are 140 on the territory of the whole of Serbia, the communal policemen and communal inspectors who can also impose fines are now authorized to control the implementation of the measures.
– So far, 12 people in Belgrade have controlled the implementation of measures, and now that number will be between 400 and 500 authorized people. That means that we will work more efficiently and that the measures will be implemented more efficiently, Vesić said.
New working hours
When asked if the crisis staff’s proposal to shorten the working hours of the catering facilities would be approved, Vesić said that the profession’s proposals were respected, but that it was not fair to punish everyone because between 50 and 100 companies restoration in Belgrade did not respect the measures.
– It is necessary that everyone get involved in the implementation of the law and jointly close those who do not respect the measures. If that does not work, we are ready to consider further measures – said Vesić.
He recalled that some 40,000 people work in restoration in Belgrade and that their families live off it, and reiterated that a measure must be found between the protection of public health and the protection of the economy.
The deputy mayor added that last night some 160 bars in the capital were controlled, but that there was no information on how many fines were written.
Vesić emphasized that the changes in the law were initiated in order to end the arrogant caterers, who, as he says, are less than one percent, and who hold parties that are breeding grounds for the virus.
– Through this law, we must solve the problem of those who laugh at the state and organize parties. We expect the police and the prosecution to get involved in the action starting today. Those vendors must respond because most of the newly infected come from those parts: Vesić stated, adding that more than 90 percent of vendors abide by the measures and close the bars on time.
